Technische Universität München (TUM) is one of the top universities in Europe. Excellence in research and teaching, interdisciplinarity and talent development make us strong. Add to this strong alliances with companies and scientific institutions all over the world. With around 50,000 students and more than 11,000 employees, we operate at theat the intersection of a state institution and an entrepreneurial university.
Founded in 2019, the TUM Institute for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence (IEAI) conducts inter-, multi- and transdisciplinary research at the interface of technology and human values. It promotes active collaboration among the technical, engineering, and social sciences and engages a broad range of international stakeholders from academia, industry, and civil society. The Institute for Ethics in AI at TUM coordinates alignAI, an EU-funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Network. The project has been running for two years: the consortium is established, all doctoral candidates have been recruited, and the training and events programme is well underway. The project will culminate in the final reporting to the EU Project Officer in August 2028.
